Babies Are Born Music-Makers
From the moment they’re born, babies are primed to enjoy music. Chances are you’ve caught a glimpse of that little music-maker inside your baby, from coos when you sing a nursery rhyme, to little wiggles when you put on your favorite song. Even the youngest babies are already alert to musical sounds and responsive to volume, movement, tempo, and melody.
While listening to music with your little one is important, incorporating music-making experiences increases your child’s music learning potential exponentially. Our classes support your baby’s brain development (PDF) and the parent-child relationship (PDF), and provide the support that your baby needs to begin finding their inner musician. Explore the three Music Together class options for babies eight months and younger:
• Babies Class, created for babies under 8 months old, offers musical activities that are specifically designed to teach parents how to support music development during infancy.
• Mixed-age Class allows your baby to listen, observe, and interact with children of varied agies.
• If your baby is or will be enrolled in a childcare or early learning setting, the Music Together curriculum can be brought there to seamlessly make music a part of your baby’s daily life. We provide a weekly in-school class that includes our research-based activities and is taught by our Music Together specialists. Testimonials
"I started Music Together with my son when he was 4 months old. We went to our first Babies class, and our lives were forever changed. Not only were we able to communicate with each other through music, purposeful touch, and movement—we connected with other families that we are still close with today. I remember the first time he 'responded' to a tonal pattern on the CD in the car—I felt like he was really 'getting it.' It is a memory I will forever cherish. Now that he's a bit older, he plays the instruments, dances to the beat, and loves going to class. I don't know what our lives would have been like without Music Together—luckily, we never had to find out!"
